The goal of political education is the responsible citizen - can you do my homework . In school political education, students should therefore get an idea of the complex reality and the formative elements of politics. Next to

variety of names is due to the development of the teaching subject after 1945. After the end of the Second World War, the four victorious powers pursued different approaches with regard to the reorganization of the school system. The Americans in particular wanted to lay the foundation for a democratic political culture in Germany through re-education . Therefore, in 1946 in the states of Berlin, Schleswig-Holstein and Hesse, and in 1949 in Württemberg-Hohenzollern as well, a politically oriented subject was introduced, each with different names.
